Meet the Founder

Meet Ajay Bind,
Textile Designer, Founder and Creative Mind Behind AKBSTOCK

I am Ajay Bind, a digital textile designer based in Mumbai, India, with more than fifteen years of experience in textile and surface design. My professional journey has taken me through women’s apparel, men’s wear, ethnic fashion, home textiles, seamless patterns, placement designs, digital printing, colour development, and production-focused artwork. Over the years, I have worked on thousands of original designs for manufacturers, fashion businesses, printing units, exporters, designers, and clients from India and international markets. Textile design, for me, has never been limited to making something visually attractive. A successful design must also understand fabric, scale, repeat, colour, printing, product category, and the expectations of the final customer. This practical understanding became the foundation of AKBSTOCK. I started building AKBSTOCK to bring together everything I have learned through years of designing, correcting, experimenting, and working close to real textile production. My objective is to create a dependable textile design resource where businesses can find artwork developed with both creativity and practical use in mind.

My Journey

A Journey Built Through Learning and Persistence

The Beginning

My interest in design began with a desire to create something original and meaningful. What initially started as learning design tools gradually developed into a professional relationship with textile, colour, pattern, and production.

First Professional Experience

My early years in the textile industry introduced me to the practical side of design. I learned that artwork must not only look attractive on a screen; it must also work on fabric, fit the product, communicate clearly, and survive the production process.

Learning Through Real Work

Every design assignment taught me something new—how colours behave, how repeats connect, how motifs should be balanced, and how the same artwork can perform differently across fabrics and printing methods. Mistakes, corrections, client feedback, and production challenges became an important part of my education.

Freelancing and Independent Projects

As I began working independently, I gained exposure to different clients, markets, product categories, and creative expectations. This allowed me to develop a wider design vocabulary while strengthening my ability to convert ideas into practical textile artwork.

Building AKBSTOCK

After years of creating designs for individual projects, I realised that the knowledge and artwork developed during this journey could become something larger. That thought gradually became AKBSTOCK—a dedicated textile design library built to help creative professionals and businesses discover reliable, original, and production-focused designs.

Today

Today, AKBSTOCK represents the experience, discipline, creativity, and long-term vision developed throughout my professional journey. It is still growing, but every part of it is being built carefully, honestly, and with a clear purpose.

What I Believe

The Principles That Guide My Work

Handmade Matters

A handmade design carries decisions, imperfections, emotions, and individuality that cannot be created through shortcuts. It reflects the time and thought invested by the designer.

Production Matters

A beautiful design becomes truly valuable when it can perform successfully on fabric and within its intended product category.

Originality Matters

Originality is not only about creating something different. It is about developing artwork responsibly and respecting the creative effort behind every design.

Trust Matters

Buyer trust is one of the most valuable assets a creative business can earn. That is why clarity, honesty, licensing transparency, and consistent quality are central to AKBSTOCK.

Improvement Matters

No designer or platform is ever completely finished. Every project, mistake, trend, and customer experience offers an opportunity to learn and improve.

These beliefs influence every design I create and every decision I make for AKBSTOCK.

Design Philosophy

From Creative Inspiration to Production-Ready Design

Inspiration and production-ready design are not the same thing. A creative idea may begin from observation, tradition, nature, historical art, market research, a trend, or even a digitally generated reference. But an idea becomes a professional textile design only after it has been carefully interpreted, recreated, refined, balanced, and prepared for its intended application. My design process considers much more than appearance. Repeat accuracy, motif placement, scale, resolution, negative space, colour relationships, fabric suitability, product structure, and printing requirements all influence the final artwork. I believe technology can support research and creative exploration, but it cannot replace textile knowledge, practical judgement, or the responsibility of the designer. For AKBSTOCK, the final value lies in the work that happens after inspiration—the drawing, rebuilding, correction, colour development, repeat creation, detailing, and quality review required to transform an idea into dependable textile artwork.

Inspiration may begin the design, but knowledge, craftsmanship, and careful preparation make it production-ready.

Why I Built AKBSTOCK

A Personal Vision Built From Years of Experience

After creating thousands of designs and working across different areas of textile design, I began to recognise a recurring problem. Businesses often spend significant time searching for artwork, correcting files, rebuilding repeats, adjusting compositions, and preparing designs before they can even begin sampling. Attractive images are widely available, but dependable textile artwork developed with practical production knowledge is much harder to find. I believed there should be a better way. AKBSTOCK was created from the idea that professional textile design should be easier to discover, understand, license, and use. It should provide more than visual inspiration. It should offer customers confidence that the design has been developed with care, experience, and awareness of its intended application. The journey has not been quick or easy. AKBSTOCK is being built independently, one decision and one design at a time. I have chosen to prioritise originality, handmade development, legal clarity, production awareness, and buyer trust—even when doing so requires more time. For me, AKBSTOCK is not simply another online project. It represents years of work, lessons, sacrifices, and the belief that a meaningful creative business can be built without compromising its foundation.

AKBSTOCK began with one designer, but it is being built for every business that believes good textile products begin with good design.

Looking Ahead

Building With Patience. Growing With Purpose.

My vision is to develop AKBSTOCK into a trusted textile design library known for originality, production awareness, clear licensing, and reliable creative quality. The immediate goal is not to become the largest library by uploading the highest number of designs. The goal is to build the right library—one in which every collection has a purpose and every design adds genuine value. Over time, AKBSTOCK will continue expanding its handmade collections, product categories, licensing options, design resources, and support systems. I also hope to create opportunities for skilled textile designers and bring more recognition to the knowledge and craftsmanship behind professional surface design. The future of AKBSTOCK will be shaped by continuous learning, customer trust, and a commitment to improving without losing the values on which the platform was founded.

The journey is still beginning, but the vision is built for the long term.
